All
Yoplait yogurt products are made by
Yoplait, Inc. whose parent company is
Kellogg’s. |
|
Probiotic Strain(s) |
Yo-Plus and Yo-Plus Light contain both
prebiotics and probiotics. These work
together as a special blend which
includes Bifidobacterium. These two
special products, along with all of the
other yogurts in the Yoplait family,
include acidophilus and bifidus, helpful
strains of bacteria which are in all
products that carry the designation of
yogurt. |
|
Colony Forming Units (CFU) |
Yoplait Plus provides at least one
billion live active colony forming units
of Bb-12 until its expiration date. The
Bifidobacterium is activated in the
digestive tract by the three grams of
prebiotic fiber called inulin. Yoplait
does not indicate how many CFU’s are
thriving in its standard line of yogurt
products. |
|
Listed Benefits and Studies |
The light
formulas of Yoplait yogurt and YoPlus
both provide important nutrients and
live bacterial cultures without the
added fat and calories. The active
bacteria in these two special products
in the Yoplait line are L. bulgaricus,
S. thermophilus, and Bifidobacterium
Lactis BB-12. These live bacteria
cultures, acidophilus and bifidus, are
proven to stabilize and balance the
intestinal system and are beneficial to
digestive health. Research is available
to substantiate yogurt's ability to
increase the body’s germ fighting power
and support the functioning of the
immune system. All Yoplait yogurt
products also contain Vitamin D which
helps to increase bone density and
strength. Vitamin C has also been proven
necessary for improving mental health.
Many of these yogurts also have
substantial quantities of Vitamin A
which is valuable for the health of the
eyes and skin. |
