Align® Probiotic

A Probiotic.org Expert Product Review

Product Overview According to the manufacturer, Align is a probiotic product which helps the digestive system to maintain the proper balance of good and bad bacteria so that it can function smoothly. Align is marketed for healthy individuals who have only occasional digestive difficulties. It is intended to counteract the harmful effects of stress, unhealthy eating, medicines, travel, and schedule changes.
Manufacturer Proctor and Gamble, LLC are the distributors of Align.
Probiotic Strain(s) The only probiotic strain in Align is a patented form of Bifidobacterium infantis 35624.
Colony Forming Units (CFU) Align probiotic has one billion colony forming units of living bacteria when produced and maintains an effective level until the date stamped on the package.
Listed Benefits and Studies The company says that young people are born with more good bacteria than bad. This keeps their digestive system in good shape and also aids their immune system, giving it the ability to fight off germs. As humans age, however, we tend to lose some of these good bacteria. The probiotic Bifidobacterium infantis 35624, found only in Align, helps create and maintain a strong digestive system. According to the manufacturer, Align will continue to buffer the intestinal tract against future intestinal upsets.
Method of Delivery The company packages Align in specially designed blister packs to keep the cultures potent for as long as possible. Each package contains twenty-eight vegetarian capsules. This type of packaging and the labeling on the Align product meet all of the requirements set forth by the World Health Organization.
Inactive Ingredients According to the package label, Align includes microcrystalline cellulose to help evenly disperse the living cultures, hypromellose in the vegetarian capsule shell, magnesium stearate, sugar, milk protein, titanium dioxide, sodium citrate dihydrate, propyl gallate, FD&C Blue #1 and riboflavin.
Listed Directions The company recommends taking one Align every day for a period of eight weeks. Align may be taken with or without food at any time of the day, but it is best to follow the same daily schedule in order to make taking this probiotic supplement a habit.
Listed Precautions Those taking antibiotics or other daily medications should consult a doctor before adding Align. The company states that Align should be kept out of the reach of children.
Storage Align can be stored at room temperatures so refrigeration is unnecessary.
Shelf Life Cultures are viable until the date stamped on each package.
Place of Manufacture Proctor and Gamble are located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
